Good lightweight mic stand

Good quality stand, light weight, compact when folded. It comes with a carrying case, making it ideal for transporting to gigs. Because it's light, mounting stability can be shaky when the boom is fully extended horizontally, which I do when I'm singing and playing keyboards. So I make sure that the legs fit well into the keyboard stand, which makes it very stable. It is very stable when the configuration is vertical as it would be for a lead singer, horn player, guitarist or bassist.

  • Useful not only for its intended purpose

Best Price Stands: Microphones and Accessories

The Gleam Boom Microphone is a great product, especially for the price. It's solid enough with a little care, but adding some weight and length to the base legs would make it ideal, although it probably won't be worth the extra cost for most. The extension ability is well designed for both the stand and the boom. The bag is spot on - by simply adjusting all the extensions to their minimum length, it folds down so everything fits snugly in the bag without removing anything, even the mic clip…

Good for small jobs

I bought this to hold the mic in different positions when setting up my home theater room. It does the job well thanks to its long reach and articulation with a fair amount of firmness. I'm not sure if it's stable enough to be used in critical recording or performance applications. I do have a couple of cons: It's hard to compress to fit in my bag, but I definitely appreciate that it comes with one so I can keep it neatly in my entertainment center. I wouldn't want to play around with my bag…

Good for the average consumer, terrible if you're serious about audio

The materials are very cheap and it feels like these stands won't last at all. My main problem is that the clip threads are not standard. So you have to use the horribly flimsy plastic clips that come with the racks. They're barely holding the SM58, which is the only mic it should hold firmly. I use tape to attach the mics to the clips to keep them from slipping out. And you can forget shock absorbers for any condenser mic because you just can't use them on these stands. Finally, you can save…

Perfect for those on a budget

This is a mic stand for solo recording at home or as a backup for small group projects. It does what it's supposed to do and that's the most important thing. My microphone (Audio Technica AT 2100 USB) fits into the supplied clip; I thought I would have to use my own clip. The stand can be surprisingly compact, especially when disassembled for storage in the included pouch. What annoys me the most is the build quality, which is not surprising at this price point. Sometimes the rod that attaches…

Stay hard! fits accessory

As a musician, moving from gig to gig weekly and playing in retired and senior communities, I need to be very portable. I bought this mic stand because it is compact and lightweight. It folds up small, which is great. It may not be as durable and maybe a little less stable than my other mic stands, but it certainly does what I need it to do. I'm installing a side shelf for my blender and a 10" tablet holder and have had no problems. I use a standard cardioid mic, which isn't too heavy so I…

Pros
  • An absolute legend
