Created a smoke machine to fix a vacuum leak in my Honda CR-V. Use a valve and bicycle hand pump to force the smoke into the vacuum hoses.

This is an unsuitable NPT thread. When threaded into a properly sized 1/8" female NPT fitting, it will stay loose, not connect properly, and not seal air. Proper NPT threads will bind and require tightening with a wrench. Teflon tape or thread sealant will work in combination used to seal the gasket.

Added to the tank. When I started tightening, the valve flew off. Luckily, because it was probably cheap quality, my puller was able to take the valve out without damaging the threads. Tomorrow I'll fill the tank with air, let's see if it holds air. I really hope it's not that bad.

This is not a suitable NPT thread. When screwed into the correct size 1/8" NPT female fitting it stays loose, will not snap correctly and will not seal the air. The correct NPT thread will bind and must be tightened with a wrench. Teflon tape or thread sealant are used in combination to ensure a tight seal.

Air control valves on water wells should automatically supply air to the well tank. Often this does not happen, and the reservoir becomes stuck, which is bad for the well and water supply. I use a Schrader valve to manually add air to the fountain tank and maintain a good air cushion. This results in fewer pump cycles downhole and no water hammer in the pipeline.
