peace of mind! great for camping and hiking

I bought these in response to a dangerous encounter with a Western Diamondback while out hunting. I was unprotected and not ready to strike. Luckily I wasn't hurt but I will never be the same again. I hope I never put them to the test, but the peace of mind they bring me is worth it. The fabric feels very durable, the insert is stiff and the wrap design gives me a secure feeling.

The best way to wear them

I think these gaiters offer good protection but when worn as shown on the model's website and the bottom tongue extends horizontally over the top of the shoe. "I found them moving and rising. When worn on the outside of the leg and pointing down, this tongue not only secures the gaiters in place, but also provides additional protection when needed.

Does the job if you have big feet

They hold up well and obviously protect against snake bites, although I've been lucky enough not to test that theory. The straps tend to slip when using the included Velcro to secure excess length, so I would recommend using rigger tape to keep the strap in place once you get the size right. My only complaint is that the guards aren't small enough to fit comfortably on my feet, but that's more due to my thin ankles than the guards themselves. Overall a good product for the price, but make sure…

Heavy Duty is best for camping and hiking

I bought these for hog hunting in Texas and Louisiana where there are more venomous snakes than I'm used to up north. Luckily I didn't test them on a snake! They appear to be of good quality and have excellent coverage, wrapping completely around the calf just below the knee and also running down most of the toe. You feel well protected in them. I'm a tall guy and I have big calves. They had a lot of settings and I still had room for more adjustments. I work in the power industry and will…
