We only had one issue, which reviewer Jeff W also had, and his solution worked for us too: The only issue I had with installation was that the small plastic cap that punctures when inserted into the printer allows ink to spill out . clogged with plastic when inserted. I had to pull out the black cartridge and pry it out with tweezers and then take it out to allow the ink to flow freely. Super simple solution. A few years ago I bought a Brother MFC-J285DW printer copier scanner because it was one of the few that worked with non-OEM ink cartridges. But last week when I replaced the black cartridge I got a horrible "Incompatible cartridge" error. I tinkered a lot, but nothing worked. But these GPC cartridges worked. At least the black cartridge worked. A few glitches but the well written booklet that came in the box told me how to fix them. Is it an upgraded chip? I do not know. I have a printer again.

As I write this review my hands are covered in RED ink. When I removed the removal tape, the ink immediately spread to my hands. Yellow and blue were ok, no leaks. After starting the printer, I was instructed to force the cartridges back in. This cleared the message. However, ink levels are NOT detected. But that's the case with most remanufactured cartridges, so I guess it wasn't surprising that they weren't recognized either. I printed a test page, all colors appeared, so I think everything…
