I bought this set for my granddaughter who is having a small tea party in the garden for her 21st birthday. I was looking for a functional and appropriately cute set. Hundreds of dollars for anything worth giving. This set is perfect. It looks fragile but is solid enough that you don't feel nervous handling it. I got this set just for fun and I would say its perfect for that. If I wanted heirloom quality I would pay for Lenox or Wedgwood china (and pay a lot more than I would for this china service). But "fancy brands" don't tend to offer somewhat extravagant Victorian sets like this one. :-) The quality of the porcelain is good, the roses are beautifully drawn.
