Grandstream HT801 Single Port Analog Phone Adapter

Firstly it was a refurbished model. IMMV! Five stars for easy installation. Plug in and go. Minus one star for reporting that voicemail was full - it wasn't. One star off for not answering calls. One star deducted for the lack of instructions. minus one star for no cable (RJ45). I suspect that the device was never repaired, but simply repackaged in an old box.

That didn't work for me.

This adapter should have been new. However, when I tried to install it, I immediately encountered problems. When I contacted my VOIP provider, the first question was whether I bought it used because the MAC address was already registered in 2017 for another customer. We found out on the Internet that these devices can be ordered with custom firmware, which for provider companies has its own administrator password. So I'm wondering if the ones supplied by Revain have custom firmware. I was

Patience is a virtue and a good buy

I bought this to replace another Grandstream ATA that had blown due to a lightning strike on the internet cable. I had some trouble getting the configuration right, but the folks at Callcentric (my VoIP provider) were very helpful with knowledgeable and polite advice. I was able to send screenshots of my configuration settings and they provided quick assistance leading to a successful device enrollment. The configuration problem was my problem, not a device error. The Grandsream configuration…

Unpatched critical vulnerabilities

The Grandstream firmware for this machine contains critical vulnerabilities that are more than two years old. (Rated a 9.8 on a severity scale of 1 to 10.) Fixes have been available to address issues for over two years, but they haven't added them to their firmware releases. The support team informed us that there is no timeline as to when the issues will be fixed. It's safe to say that after two years they either have no intention of fixing them or weren't even aware of it when we reported the
