Grizzy Compass/Divider

As others have noted the surface of this compass/divider is a little rough - the slot in the wing needs a bit of sharpening and the tips need a bit of sharpening. I plan to use it as a compass so I ground the moving point. Ideally, the pencil stand should be at a slight angle - the smallest possible compass radius is about 1/2 inch. With a little modification, this is a reliable and accurate tool.

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Some flaws

This is a great tool for the workshop. If you're looking for a drafting table or homework compass, this isn't it. The thing was made for workshop use. This is a reliable compass with a good weight. Ease of use for marking materials. The ends aren't very sharp, but they're easy to work with if you need something sharper. A pencil grip is enough. It "bites" your pen, but also keeps it stable. It opens about 65Β° but if you need to widen it you can remove the bolt. Although the loop is stiff enough

Pros
  • Cool product

  • Something different

The dividers came in a plastic bag and were soaked in thick sticky oil to prevent rust. Some of the oil even leaked out of the bag. I had to spend a lot of time cleaning up the mess. To add insult to injury while cleaning that disgusting oil, I cut my thumb with a curved slotted bar used to lock the tuning. I had to spend even more time filing down the sharp edges of the knife (would it kill the maker if they dropped this part out before riveting it to the divider leg?) and open a slightly…
