I DON'T WANT A SCRAPER HOLDER

I've been using Mag-Float for a long time. All my aquariums are acrylic with rounded corners. Older models did not have a built-in scraper holder. The scraper holder makes it wider, making it difficult to maneuver and remove algae around round and 90 degree corners. I hope Mag-Float understands that not everyone is blown away by the scraper.

  • Hands free

  • So far so good

Great idea, big failure

This is a powerful magnet that I find difficult to use and not as effective as it would be on its own. If you have plants or decorations near the edge of the pool, you cannot use them there. It's also not attractive and scares my betta to death. I have to remove the fish before I can clean anything. Having done so much work, I'm good at using the standard method of cleaning glass.

Pros
  • Best in class
Cons
  • Big and bulky

I like it. Works very well

Works damn well. If your tank isn't far from the wall, you can't do the back of the tank. Also, don't get close to the substrate. But it makes cleaning the front of the aquarium glass quite easy. Also, don't use it on acrylic tanks, no matter what you're told. You should buy them anyway, just throw away your acrylic tank because they're harder to clean than they're worth.

Doesn't work with glass tank otherwise great brand

Didn't realize it was for acrylic tanks. Maybe it works better for her than my glass tank. The magnet is weak so falls apart and doesn't clean well. The good thing, though, is that the interior floats - many other brands don't, and it's a must-have unless you want to take it out of the tank, which defeats the purpose of a unit. As a longtime reef caretaker, Mag Float is a must have in any aquarium.

Acrylic cleans glass surfaces well

I bought an acrylic float for my glass aquarium because I wanted to be extra careful not to scratch the glass. It also cleans glasses. Brown algae coat my glasses every few days and wear them all away. My glasses look shiny and clear! The trick is to wipe very, very slowly - any quick movement will jerk and may not clean. I want the floating part to float a bit above the water level so I don't have to put my fingers in the water when I get it out.

Ideal for a 10 liter tank.

I have a 10 gallon tank and it's the *perfect* size. As advertised, the magnet floats on the surface when unplugged. Unless you're coordinative enough and know how to maneuver around turns, the swimmer won't be easy enough to swim away. If he swims away, it's very easy to bring him back without putting his hand in the aquarium. I have a glass tank and have not experienced any scratches as some other reviews suggest. It's definitely better than being elbow-deep in a tank! Also, with that size, I

Cast Acrylic Scratch Cell

I wouldn't use this unless you cover the front with a thin felt cloth. Like the ones you use for camera lenses. This will scrape the living devil out of your tank. It is best to just use a membership card, gift card or some kind of credit card and then use it when you have felt it from the front to easily remove algae such as dust or fine threads. Really disappointed with this product. I paid for really high quality acrylic and had my tank made to order. Everything was going great until this…

Finishing - TSAPARKI!

Edited Review: At first I thought it didn't scratch, I read the other reviews and after testing a small area I looked around carefully and all seemed fine. Some time later I could see faint lines that seemed to develop over time and are still barely visible when filled with water. I changed the water and wiped the top of the tank with a soft cloth when the glass cleared there were scratches all over it. I'm so upset that I didn't pay more attention to the other reviews. I went to an aquarium…
