Pretty good tree for aquarium

This is a gamble you don't know what you are getting so make sure you understand before you buy. I got a nice looking piece of wood that was quite large but obviously not a designer aquascaping item. Still, I like it very much and would happily buy it again. I recommend this if you don't want to spend too much and are willing to take the risk.

Sharp but subtle - ornaments

I added it to my young ball pythong enclosure. Wanted something to climb on to enrich herself. The log itself has many sharp ends which made me concerned about safety. I've tried positioning it in the aviary to hide any sharp parts, but I may have to sand down most of the log. It would also be dangerous for the fish. However, it was a good size and shape for a good price. I'm thinking about buying more :)

Large size and shape

This item fits perfectly in my 10 gallon split tank. Its length is about 10 inches. I have a triangle shape. It's also thick, about 4 inches wide. It looks amazing underwater. There are no tannins. I only boiled it for a few hours and then left it in the existing water tank for another 5 hours, but I don't think it even lasted that long. This is a great addition to my aquarium. The white stuff on it is sand that I haven't shaken off yet.

Good item at a reasonable price

It was a great item with character and lots of nooks and crannies for freshwater shrimp. It's only in a 10 gallon tank where it's the perfect size. I soaked it for about a week to get the tannins out and the water never turned as dark as some of the bars I've used in the past. I was able to attach three ferns to it and it looks very pretty. Now he has a small patch of black down - probably a fungus. I think the shrimp will get the hang of it soon.

Nice addition to the aquarium; Beware of tannins

The wood is large and seems very strong. It obviously doesn't sink immediately. Note, however, that this will take MUCH longer than a few hours or days. We started soaking it in boiling water for an hour, then switched to cold water for a couple of hours. After being added to a new 20-gallon tank with nothing else in it, the wood continued to seep into the water for over a week, staining the entire tank brown. We removed it and continued to soak separately. It also took about 10 days to fully…

Provide instructions for leaching

Beautiful wood. The goods are expensive, like all hooks. For a beginner, it would be wise to provide instructions on how to "clean" the wood. All driftwood releases tannins into the water and can turn an aquarium into a disaster. There are many ways, the two most common being boiling or soaking. You boil the wood several times and rinse until it runs clear. Or soak in a bucket, changing the water every day for about a week. Eventually, it takes several weeks for the wood to soak up enough water

Do not buy! - Fish & Aquatic Pets

So I boiled this for 3.5 hours, changing the water every time it turned brown. After that I brushed it with a clean brush like someone else mentioned and soaked it. It sank immediately, but it took about a week before it stopped flushing paint into the bucket. Now he is black. It does not look good. And it took forever for the color to come out. But it's a nice big piece of wood, isn't it? UPDATE: It's been 2 weeks after all the above treatments and it STILL stains my aquarium water to a…
