Great product for stencils and templates

Made my first free motion quilt with this and it served the purpose. However, the chalk does not shake off easily and I had to wash the blanket to remove the blue powder. If you don't want to wash your comforter this may not be the product for you, but I used fixing spray to hold the comforter together while quilting so I planned on washing it anyway. It was perfect for what I needed it for and I would recommend it.

more trouble than it's worth.

Despite the name, this pillow needs rubbing, not lacing, to work. There are only two colors: blue or white, and if you have a motley fabric, that won't work. If you work with a large piece of fabric, it will fade or wear out from start to finish. I ended up redrawing most of my stencil with a tailor's pencil to see the design.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Something's wrong

Don't waste your time

Really don't waste your time, the powder doesn't work as advertised. Difficult to see and keep on the ceiling. After almost the entire full-size 12 quilt store was completed. By the time I was a quarter of the way, most of the powder was already vibrating. Makes a mess of your sewing machine and your area. Emailed customer service and they don't know how to reply. Another gimmick was unfortunately a waste of money, not to mention my time, with a useless product of life.

I do not prefer this meihod marked

This dry powder doesn't stay on the duvet long enough to see where the lines are. The vibration of the machine also makes the powder jump and move. Landed on the quilting foot and I can imagine it working its way down to the bobbin area after prolonged use. There is another powder that should stick better. This iron is off. I can try this before exiting this method. I recommend to beat yourself, but be careful to choose the right powder.

Pros
  • . Like everything before
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

I was able to complete the free motion quilting with the blue sketch and my long arm. At first I was disappointed because the chalk marks rubbed off so easily. Then I read to lightly spray the chalk marks with hairspray. After that, the mark remained. I don't think I would mark the whole quilt at once if using a home machine due to the amount of work required to quilt on a home machine.

Doesn't apply easily or stay on fabric

I thought this would be a great answer to quilt labels. Once you've completed the monumental task of "pushing" the chalk into the applicator, all you have to do is run your finger over the stencil, right? Yes, this part works, but when I held the blanket under the machine's needle, the chalk was almost gone. There is no pattern visible. Completely disappointed. The company I ordered from delivered on time. There are no complaints about them.

I think this product will be awesome!

It's hard to write a review for a product I can't use. However, I think it would be great if I could use it! I won't be using this because I am making a blanket that I will NOT be washing and I didn't see that this product should be used on items that you can wash to ensure 100% of the chalky product comes out. I didn't risk my duvet because again I don't intend to wash it; I'll hang it on the wall. My girlfriend LOVES her pink jump pillow so I bought it!

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Only available in black

Very difficult to wash off.

I used it for quilting. I applied it quite heavily (by tapping the pad against the stencil) because I couldn't get the chalk to show when I rubbed it gently against the stencil. It was much quicker than tracing the template with the Frixion pen. However, when I washed it in delicate/cold water with Tide Free, it didn't wash off. Washed a second time with warm water, Resolve stain remover and Tide stain remover. The stripes were still there. I had to wash it a third time with the same products…

Great for my purposes

This 4 oz Hancy quilted rug with chalk powder, white, works great for my purposes. I have used a chalk roller when sewing for many years, but have never used a padded rug. But now I make masks every day and cut several layers of fabric at once. I use thick cardboard, a pattern and draw it around the fabric with a chalk pencil or ballpoint pen. When I saw this I thought it could make the process much quicker and easier and it really is. It's basically a flat plastic container, open at the bottom

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
