Hanna refractometer review

I bought this Hanna refractometer to measure sugar in maple sap and honey. This spring I used it regularly for two weeks and measured the sugars in maple sap from multiple sources. The instructions are clear and easy to use and clean. I bought it instead of a juice hydrometer.

well matched well suited for analysis devices

I'll buy a second Hanna refractometer. In our application, they correlate very well with the CEM Moisture Analyzer. This seems to be true even when we try materials other than pure sugar. We also use other Hanna tools and find them reliable and good value. I had to contact the service and they sent the device back very well and quickly in this case. I recommend this product.

Pros
  • ideal for outdoor activities

HI 96801 Digital Refractometer

I was skeptical but it works as it should. You'll need to calibrate it every time you use it and make sure you give it a good clean between rehearsals by pressing the Read button until it reads 0 again, rather than just resetting it to zero. But the whole process takes no more than a few seconds, at most a few minutes if you are not in a hurry or the measured sample was too thick and/or sticky. I just love it for its simplicity and the fact that it takes the guesswork out of optical blocks.
