Bought after a kitchen renovation. Unfortunately, the upper part does not stay (does not fit). The plumber struggled to fit it into the standard hole he had drilled. It fits the faucet I bought so will keep it but am disappointed with the quality control of this item.

The Hansgrohe dishwasher air gap looks fantastic with our new faucet. I'm glad we changed it because the old one had a lot of solid waste. Very easy to install and fits in any modern kitchen sink. This is a whole device, not just a case that you are going to buy.

I first looked for an air gap with a Mediterranean bronze finish but couldn't find it. I came across this in my search. The rubbed bronze air gap photos shown looked like they would match our new faucet. Of course, when I received it, it fit perfectly! The item was exactly as it appeared in the photos. I purchased this product thinking an air gap would be needed but my contractor told me they were no longer needed in California and they were never useful. All you need is an ugly extra hole in the countertop and a lid that gurgles water when the dishwasher is running. But running the dishwasher line above the dishwasher itself (but still under the counter) solves the problem just as well, presumably without the extra parts.

If you have thicker granite or quartz countertops with a 5/8" plywood backing this may not work as the threaded section is about 2.5" long. While technical superiority doesn't normally buy an air gap, one can hope that with a little more money you can get better quality. Things really don't seem to be the case here. The cover is as you would expect from Hansgrohe, but there is a slight gap between the threaded air gap body and the mounting nuts.
