Hawaiian Tropic Island Spectrum Sunscreen: Your Ultimate Sun Protection Companion! Review

This is the best sunscreen I have found. It didn't smell like sunscreen, didn't stain my clothes, and most importantly, it protected my winter skin in Minnesota from the scorching Caribbean sun. It needs to be reapplied like any lotion. I was concerned that SPF50 would mean I wouldn't get any color at all, but I still got a tan, just didn't burn. Love this product. That's why I decided to give it 5 stars: I'm a fair skinned redhead, I burn VERY easily. I live in the Northeast US and this is where I used it. With this product I feel like this is true SPF 50. Using this product as directed really prevents sunburn for me. I actually tan a little after 80 minutes, but I've never burned out. It was a little further down the list in consumer reports, but I've been very lucky with it. Ideal as general sun protection. The lotion smells of coconut and has a very subtle sheen. We have light skin, so we use that and then hit the shoulders and face with a zinc stick. It actually made me burn so much! I used it properly and put it on at least half an hour before going out, but on my skin this stuff worked the same as using Crisco. We live near the water and I use sunscreen all the time but this was my first time using this brand. I'm staying with Sun Bum!

One of our favorite sunscreens. While using a physical sunscreen is best, sometimes you just need something lightweight that doesn't smell or feel like garbage. I would not recommend using this on the face, especially near the eyes. But this is a great daily option for the body. I have had melanoma in the past and daily sun protection is a must. It doesn't leave a greasy, rough feel or a white cast (because it's a chemical sunscreen).
