The first time we used the string winder we shot the whole string and it came off almost immediately and the kite flew down the bank. I recommend unwinding and checking the end before use. In my opinion it is too small for adult hands. It can be difficult to wind in very strong winds due to its smaller size and less force on the bowstring.

I have a lot of kites and I usually use hand winders. I bought this for my father in law to use at the beach due to his age and arthritis. The string twisted normally and appeared to be quality product until we tried winding it and the grip fell off in flight. We were on the beach so trying to find small gear was a needle in finding a haystack. I was hoping the aluminum product would hold up better than the plastic counterparts.

I bought this for my 3 year old. This is the perfect size for her. I like that the spool snaps into place with a simple snap design, but it's a plastic handle that snaps in place and pops out slightly when she grabs it. The entire handle came loose causing the spool to release the kite line before I could grab the spool to fix it. The plastic handle slides in as easily as it snaps off. It's inconvenient but I shouldn't return the product, I think you get what you pay for🤷‍♀️

It makes life in flight 100% easier and more fun! My 6 year old managed it without help. She is still learning to slowly release the leash. I control the release of the line with my thumb on the large circle. The only disappointment is the design. One has plastic ball bearings and the other has metal bearings, you can definitely feel some respect by holding them. Good quality item unless you have a big dragon. The wind was about 18mph and by the time the kite was up the line had snapped. This roll chewed my fingers very well. I was bleeding from several fingers on both hands and the grip was almost unstoppable. It crashed into my right palm and burned my left hand trying to hold the kite. Good - It's made of durable plastic with strong metal elements where needed. The bearings have not been lubricated, so less dirt can get into them. This is the best kite string assembly known to man. yes it is that good What an awesome design and why it took me so long to buy it. For years I have always used every other type of kite rope and pulling in your kite is sometimes a serious job. I have big hands and can easily hold the reel. This role is great. The yarn quality is very good. It reminds me of braided fishing line and feels very strong and durable.
