Hop Weights for Home Brewing

After a few glass beads broke/broke I switched to these stainless steel bearings. I use them in hop bags both hot (boil) and cold (keg). They are so heavy that 5-10 fit on a hop sack.

I used them in the mazes my students made for the math class I teach. They worked great for this use. They arrived quickly with all the bearings, but the packaging they arrived in was not properly sealed and they were loose in the box.

Pros
  • Ball Bearing
Cons
  • Something Else

Slightly magnetic stainless steel.

I rated them rather negatively at first because they were slightly magnetic. Well after further research on 304 and 316 stainless steel I am updating my review. Now they are magnetic, but nowhere near as magnetic as plain carbon steel. This demonstrated, as indicated in the study of the magnetism of 304 and 316 stainless steel, that both stainless metals are inherently non-magnetic. BUT they can become magnetic during welding and cold working. So it might or might not be 304. There's no real…

Pros
  • Deep groove ball bearing
Cons
  • I can't remember, but there was something
