It is what is shown in the video

Yes, technically it is a HiDef camcorder. No, its video output cannot compete with traditional HDV camcorders like Sony, Canon, etc. But it's important to understand that this is a hybrid device with a unique feature set and good performance at a price that's about half that of a cheap HDV camcorder. The video quality (in HD mode) is better than regular DV camcorders and the photos are better than my 5 year old Sony 4MP camcorder. If I'm filming an important production video or taking photos…

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Crumpled

Slightly improved Good for camcorders

I think I originally gave the HD1 I bought from Revain 5 stars. While this model gave me satisfactory results, some of the reviews I read said it didn't work in many cases. I think the Oled display must have been the cause of a lot of bad luck as Sanyo appears to have replaced the Oled display with a more traditional LCD. I bought the HD1a, also from Revain, because I like more than one camera angle, whether I'm shooting home video or storing stock footage in the not-quite-primetime-ready mpeg…

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Disappear

Only slightly better than the first Fisher C1

I have a Sanyo Fisher C1 which I have been using for 2 years now and I love it very much. I was excited about the idea of getting an HD version and bought one for Christmas this year. Humbug! The video might be wider on this model than on the C1, but I haven't seen if it's better. No one will believe this video is really HD unless they have never seen HD before. Pictures could be good. Didn't get that far until I put it back in the box to return. It's a camcorder, and it just doesn't make…

  • Nice packaging

Outdoor use: GOOD Indoor use: Poor

I really want to give it 3 1/2 stars. This camera is worth the money. However, if you're left-handed like me, keeping your arm straight while holding it with your right hand takes practice. The quality of the film is above average. Shooting in high resolution looks great, but takes up a lot of space on your card. Recordings in other formats are suitable for occasional recordings. Indoor shots without proper lighting can be a challenge. This camera needs LOTS of light to make the image look…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Has problems
