Cheap soapstone and good for marking anvils and ironwork. The mount isn't very good, but good enough to protect in my tool bag.

Unfortunately it's so cheaply made it doesn't work. Yes, the price is right, but it only costs one soapstone, and that's ok. But if you're trying to do something, I don't have time.

Very poor quality dispenser. Falls apart right out of the box. After assembly, the chalk kept slipping out. Save money and buy something else! Very disappointed with the Hobart quality.

Other reviewers complained that they came broken or the holder was flimsy (soapstone not suitable for ham). Anyway, mine arrived safely. The holder is fine and holds the stones well. No problem with what I received.

I paint mandalas on canvas, stone, etc. with spot paint. Usually you have a guide that you can follow without leaving a trace. We found that soapstone goes great with dark backgrounds!

Alright. The first soapstone broke in half lengthwise, but the fillers remained intact. The locking mechanism was a bit bent so I had to turn it a bit to adjust it, but it's a pretty basic piece of kit that works well. Nothing special to write home about.

I use this as a DOT inspector, my old one is worn out and I need to replace it. The main issue with the new one is the poor quality of the soapstone button slider/holder. It doesn't hold soapstone, I had two stones fall out of the holder and hit the floor. I had to make adjustments to get it working and not lose grip on the rock. Next time I will buy from another company.
