Good for self-defense in cold weather. Not very suitable for trailer wiring.

I was pretty happy with this thing until the temp dropped into the single digits. Now it's so stiff it came off my truck on a corner. If I wanted a useless baton on the front of my trailer I would add one. Look elsewhere if you live in a cold climate.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons

Hard lesson - external accessories

Nice cable and cord, well made, only problem is this is the first 7 pin connector I've seen that only works with its socket. All of this is attached to my trailer and too big to fit. Now I have to redo my two trucks with THEIR ships. I haven't seen this problem in other reviews. I've been working with trailers since the 60's and have seen both color codes used so there was no problem.

This pendant is a beast.

As other reviews have said, wire color doesn't matter compared to vehicle or trailer standards so double check your connections prior to installation and you'll be fine. Other than that, this harness is sturdy, with nice heavy (I think it's 10 gauge) 12 volt wires and slightly smaller signal wires. Still very flexible and easy to roll up when not in use. This is working well and looks like it's moving forward.

Pros
  • Great for a small home

Perfect replacement for my crumpled trailer cable

This was the perfect replacement for the 7 wire cable I crumpled up on my caravan. I was concerned after reading other reviews about wrong cable colors, but this matched my 2013 Starcraft Travel Star exactly. Also, I would say that the connector and shielding material was of higher quality than the original cable. After replacing the wire, my trailer's right turn signal still didn't work, which I put down to a blown fuse in the truck. Just a FYI if you come across anything similar.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Hopkins 7 Blade Trailer Cable

cable worked great. This molded connector was soldered to the wired portion of the cable. All wires are copper and the correct size. The eight foot length was just right for my trailer and truck. Could probably have cut off a leg but didn't. Be sure to secure the cable to the trailer to avoid straining the cables coming from the trailer. Lubricate all bare copper wires with grease before inserting them into the crimp terminals. Use heat shrink tubing over the connectors and shrink them with a…

OLD CABLE - PLEASE READ

Caravan trailers use two different color codes and this cable is an OLD color code. This is a good quality cable and will work with any 7 pin plug but the cable colors will not match the new campers. The easiest way to tell them apart is to look at the red wire. You have four smaller wires and three larger wires. If the red wire is small then it is the old color scheme and it is the left turn signal. If the red wire is thick, it is the new color scheme and the +12 volt auxiliary power supply…

Good product, OLD style color coding for Hoppy 7 RV

I've been an auto technician for 30 years and am good at wiring and circuit testing. I purchased this item along with a Hoppy Endurance 7 RV Blade for a wiring repair project on my 20ft trailer and got a headache. After cleaning the trailer of all the old wiring, I installed the Hopkins 20146 wire in the junction box and made all the necessary and correct color coded connections, taking great care to ensure everything was correct. To my surprise, after some testing with a Fluke multimeter and…

Excellent product

I bought this cord to replace an old plug and cords on my 14ft trailer. The connector is very strong and fused to the cable itself. One of them must be the bad guy if he was in my trailer when it was made. I love how well this thing is made, the conductors are designed for more than my needs.
