Plug and play: exterior accessories

Perfect for my 2004 Toyota Tacoma. Easy to install and absolutely no splicing. Only high quality connectors that plug into the OEM wiring harness making it reversible. Comes with connector grease to prevent moisture and corrosion. Works well for towing a small motorcycle trailer. Really great product worth the price.

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Has problems

Fits perfectly, connects to my seat belt and no wire cutting required.

I used this wiring harness on my 1998 Toyota Tacoma. The taillights were easily removed and the wiring harness connected. The hardest part was finding a good ground source. The kit included self tapping screws which I used to make the floor. The wiring harness came at a good price and was delivered quickly.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Some nuances

Great and EASY good for hauling groceries and winch

Very easy installation. The most "technical" thing you need to do is drill a small hole in the frame for the ground wire. Otherwise everything just connects. No electrical knowledge is required, no need to keep track of which wire is the left turn signal, left brake, etc. You simply disconnect the connector that goes to the taillights on each side and plug this kit in there. Then simply tie the excess cable to one side (do not pull in front of the spare wheel handle hole!). Ready. Damn easy.

  • Really don't like it everything is ok

Installation:: simple.! Disconnect the old wiring first: tough!

Replaced with same harness at 17 years old, 360,000 prerunner miles. WD-40 is needed to loosen rusted, hardened joints; 5/32" flathead screwdriver to press in the old terminals; and two pairs of small locks to separate the terminals. Plan to purchase spare heavy-duty cable ties: I used about a dozen 12" cable ties to tie the spare wire and I temporarily grounded the wiring harness to the license plate bolt (the old ground was attached to a tab hidden above the spare tire).

Adding trailer wiring couldn't be easier.

Perfect solution for adding trailer wiring to my '04 Taco. The same goes for the 4-wire connector that goes to the trailer. The supplied grease ensures a good and safe electrical connection. Tips: (1) Have a few extra zippers handy. There are several cables included in the kit, but more are needed to neatly route the wiring under the truck. (2) Start installing the control box in the middle and work your way up, routing the wires to the taillights. Do not connect the taillights until you have…

Easy installation.

Installed on my 1993 Toyota X-cab. used with Curt #58303 bracket for 4-pin connector. Easy to install snap connectors behind the taillights were the perfect addition, no soldering or wire cutting required. I'm not a mechanic and I don't know about cars, but the installation was easy even for me. It took less than 30 minutes from start to finish. I recommend buying extra cable ties for securing cables behind the bumper, there are only a few in the kit. I used about 12 8" zip ties to securely…

Easy installation and works great!

When I bought my Tacoma it had a complete Reese hitch kit and it worked great. However, I bought a new trailer and noticed lighting problems. There were serious problems on the passenger side, and in general the lights were behaving strangely. I thought it was a typical land issue, but even using dedicated land didn't solve the problem. I turned on the multimeter and found that the passenger side lighting harness showed little to no voltage. Got the Hopkins kit in the mail today and installed…
