Great value for a casual laptop

After years of using Chromebooks mostly, I'm increasingly looking for a better laptop. But I didn't want to spend a lot of money on it since I use my work approved machine the most. I hesitated for a long time before ordering because of the many negative reviews. But I'm glad I made the purchase. As with every restoration, I expected the typical signs of wear and tear, although I received a perfectly usable device. Aside from a few minor scuffs on the outside of the case (the silver leather was

Screen resolution is not as advertised (1366x768 instead of 1920x1080)

Hey all, just received the 2nd repaired HP 840 elitebook (see my first post with OS not working). Swap works fine on Revain Prime. Again a very good laptop with almost no physical damage. There is a small scratch on the screen but bearable. My disappointment with this second laptop is that the screen resolution advertised on Amazon's product page is 1920 x 1080, when the actual resolution is 1366 x 768 - see attached image. In general, the calculator is ok for the price, the battery works…

Good value for money but there are a few issues.

Good laptop! I would recommend it. There are a few caveats and some problems (although I suspect it's just bad luck), but first the case for it. Well packed. The device was tied tightly with elastic plastic and securely packaged for shipment. Good physical condition. I agree this is a "1" grade for general physical condition and signs of wear. It can be called "gentle" - decent battery life. Despite the age of the platform (2016), I get a good 4 hours of battery life with "normal" use. Word…

Nice laptop, needed a good cleaning.

I bought it for my son to study and play games on Steam. Works pretty well. I will add another 8GB of RAM. In general the laptop is good. There are a few scuffs and scratches on the case. It comes with a really cheap power adapter that gets very hot. My biggest complaint with the seller is that it was dirty. Where Cheetos or cracker crumbs are scattered all over the screen and keyboard. It was awful, especially with the ongoing Covid pandemic.

Pros
  • So far I'm satisfied
Cons
  • I won't say anything

As others have written these 'restored' machines are full of problems. For example, this one was supposed to be FHD but it's not, it's a standard 1366x768p display AND there were dead pixels on the device. Go elsewhere if you need this laptop as other vendors list it on their websites with no false advertising or missing batteries, weakened processors or damaged coolers.

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Will write later

I had to go back and it wasn't easy.

Old computer but worked pretty well with an SSD. The power connector was lost so you had to make sure it stayed on while charging. There was a couple of weeks where it completely crashed and wouldn't boot. I'm a techie and have been for 30 years. When I contacted the seller to return it I had a tough time despite having a 90 day no questions asked return policy. She wanted to call HP while I was on the phone with her and ask ME to speak to tech support. I got a little warm but it's fair and…
