Hydrapak SoftFlask 750 ml - Ultra-portable Collapsible Water Bottle for Hiking and Running - 25 oz Leak-proof Container Review

This water bottle was good because it didn't leak or break while drinking. The only problem I encountered was that I had a hard time filling it in many places because it was too long for the space allotted to fill.

Bought for travel to pack in carry-on and fill on the other side of airport security. Nice to have water and reseal on long flights. I shared it with my kids who called it "soft bottle" so I bought one for them. So far no leakage problems.

I mainly use it for hiking because I got tired of using a hydrator. I attach it to the backpack from the front as it is very light. I soaked it in warm water with baking soda and soap before using. Done a few times. I bought 2 of 750ml and one of 500ml. I only give 4 stars because it's a little expensive.

We have tried incorporating it many times but the extremely strong chemical taste and odor (which it imparted to the water) remained. We've never had a problem with some of the previous models we've owned. Very disappointed as there are no other bite valve options. And yes, the water used was odorless and tasteless.

This bottle is not for runners. To dispense liquid you need to squeeze the bottle like a tube of toothpaste when the bottle is not full. After drinking half a bottle, it's difficult to squeeze anything out. The bottle tips and is difficult to hold on to when you try to run or walk (or move) and hold on to it. I would say this product is best for backpackers or campers who have a backpack to hold the bottle and want to save space when the bottle is empty.

Since Katadyn doesn't sell replacement bottles for their BeFree filtration system, I went with the SoftFlask Hydropak 750ml hoping it would work just as well. Compared to the Hydrapak 1 liter bottle that comes with the Katadyn I would say this bottle is a bit thicker and stronger. It also has harder plastic caps on each end to make the bottle more rigid and protect high-wear areas from wear and tear, which is pretty nice to see.
