The Loneliest Man on Earth is a post-apocalyptic story

I've wanted to read this book for a long time because I liked The Last Man on Earth (1964) with Vincent Prls. And surprisingly, the film adaptation was pretty close (except for a few details, of course). Robert Neville is seemingly able to survive an apocalypse caused by the plague. The bottom line is that the plague turns its victims into vampire zombies. Robert is immune but is haunted by the loss of his beloved family. A classic with a depressing ending

Writer Richard Matheson is a legend in his own right. This teasing tale of the last living human on earth and his efforts to eradicate the vampire plague peters out about halfway through this superbly written novel.
