XC60 Warning - Tools and Equipment

Firstly my scanner looks NOTHING like the one in the photo even though it is the same model. I have a 2015 Volvo XC60 T6 and even after a software update the scanner cannot read/connect a manual diagnosis (e.g. ABS). It can show battery life and some minor features and provide part numbers for some parts but doesn't work where I need it to. For models that work with it, I'm sure it's great. It's easy to use, easy to update, but I wouldn't use it if you have my model. Let the buyer be alert!

Pros
  • Certified

  • Definitely a bad product

Very complete OBD2 reader for Volvo and Saab

Did exactly what I needed it for. I replaced the radio and knew that when you turn off the dash you have to disconnect the battery but didn't. Once everything was installed, I started the car so the security warning light came on. I immediately realized what I had done wrong. I took it to a Volvo dealership to have it reset and they wanted $165 (minimum 1 hour charge) and that would take 2 weeks before they could get me. It literally took less than a minute to reset with a price tag of $115 for

Saved me a lot of money!

I purchased this product after Costco in Kirkland fitted new tires which caused the passenger airbag to fail. Costco denied this and then went on to "it was there when you walked in". When I read online it's not uncommon when it's not provable, but stories from dealerships asking hundreds per reset made me buy the iCarsoft tool. It arrived, I unpacked it, plugged it in and cleared the error in less than three minutes. The tool cost as much as I saved on tires I guess, but that's not the tool'sโ€ฆ

Pays for itself quickly

Used with 2005 S60 without turbo. Now the urgent message resets srs. It takes a while to find it among the many menu options, but it's there. The software update instructions for this are not clear. The book is not true but the video on icarsoft support page is fast and accurate. follow this. More resets or diagnostics and it will pay for itself. Pretty solid build, average or slightly better than average for a general code scanner. Excellent ad. Looks well built and should last as long as aโ€ฆ

Works great on both my Volvos

On a visit to Florida I took my Volvo XC90 for an oil change. When I picked it up it had a message saying the airbag system was disabled and needed service. I've researched the internet and read some real horror stories about going to Volvo dealers with this type of problem. I researched further and found the I906 which was able to give me more information and even tell me which sensors weren't working. I bought it and installed it in my car. I played around a bit and saw that it is possible to

Volvo and Saab Specific

Purchased to reset the SRS code on my 1998 Volvo S90. The mouse decided to settle into my fan assembly and after disassembling half of my dash, it unwittingly checked the fan before reconnecting the passenger side airbag system. Hence the SRS error on my dashboard. It worked fine, but I had to sift through the device to get it working properly. I had a few freezes and had to go back to the beginning and refine the model, year and so on. I had a regular fault code for the secondary air emissions

Payback within 1 code/fault/DTC. worth $.

This unit is a complete saver of $. If you know anything about Volvo then you know that something too simple and stupid like changing a lightbulb can cause an SRS fault. Aka $100+ test with the dealer and/or the reason your car won't start. With this scanner you can read, diagnose, clear, track, etc. all DTCs/Codes in your vehicle. It is very detailed and allows you to troubleshoot, scan 20 modules in your Volvo and provide real-time data monitoring so you can pinpoint problems. It also givesโ€ฆ

Removed the SRS warning light on my Volvo S40. Hooray!

Finally something to get rid of the annoying airbag warning light in my Volvo! Through some research online I found out that the reason the SRS warning light on my Volvo S40 was ominously telling me the service was URGENT after some recent work on my car was due to an electrical accident the Volvos suffered are vulnerable and somehow related to disconnected battery. I also found that this is the only way to get the #$@! The code should take the car to the dealer. Many told horror stories aboutโ€ฆ

Find out what the dealer knows

This little scanner is great. Not only is it a normal OBD-II, but it also has special software for Volvo and Saab vehicles, which allows you to read out all the brand-specific functions. This scanner adds the ability to read ABS codes and SRS codes, which is huge, and it reads all the electronic stuff that regular OBD-II doesn't read. You must have a little knowledge or be willing to learn because knowing the code won't really get you anywhere, but if you're willing to get your hands dirty youโ€ฆ
