Can't set up

I'm a computer science student and couldn't set this thing up all weekend. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT IF YOU DO NOT HAVE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE WITH THIS TYPE. Extremely difficult to install and configure, with many opportunities for things to go wrong. The 8 steps given in one of the other reviews DO NOT WORK as stated, with many, many "intermediate steps" required that are convoluted, complex, and have an insane number of places to go wrong. There is very little information on the volumio website…

Great sounding DAC

is a great sounding DAC once set up. If you are using Raspian Stretch: snd-soc-allo-boss-dac.ko is the device driver. Enable this driver on the RPi by adding dtoverlay=allo-boss-dac-pcm512x-audio to the /boot/config.txt file. Follow these instructions to stretch Raspbian so you can use it with standard programs like vlc: Open terminal from desktop. Type "cd" and press Enter. do it again Now type "cd boot" and then type "sudo nano config.txt". This will open the configuration file in a text…

So far so good, used with LibreELEC with Raspberry Pi 3 B+

Sound quality improved instantly with built in analog output. Sounds good! It's very easy to install once you know how. If you're using LibreELEC like I am, the drivers are already included with the OS (most supported OSs I've read have them). You just have to add it to the configuration. Do the following: 1) SSH into your RPI (I won't go into detail, google it if you must) 2) Type "cd ". and press Enter (without quotes)3) Type "mount -o remount,rw /flash" (without quotes) to remount the flash…

Great way to boost Raspberry Pi audio

I wanted to use my Pi as an input source for my Sonos system. The Pi itself was underpowered, probably 1/2 watt or less, so no matter how I cranked the Sonos volume, I didn't get what I wanted. Enter InnoMaker DAC HAT. At first I was interested in reading stories, but I bought them and decided I would pull through. Here's the thing: you need to add a line to your config.txt. dtoverlay=allo-boss-dac-pcm512x-audio. All I had to do was comment out another line about sound in the config file. It…

Great sound but not audiophile

Got this DAC for MoodeAudio. I use iFi iDSD Pro and WooAudio WA8 for USB DAC with MoodeAudio. The installation is a very good sounding system. However, they are too bulky and not suitable for taking out and moving. I saw a lot of praise for this DAC on Revain so I decided to give it a try. In MoodeAudio you need to set it to use the Allo Boss driver or you'll hear pops every few seconds. I set the sample rate to 32-bit 384kHz, which is the highest quality, but the sound doesn't come close to a…
