I was very disappointed with these banana jacks. The "brass" bushing was made of a type of metal that repels solder. I had to use a lot of flux and a lot of heat to get a practically unusable solder joint. Easy to attach wires: about 1/2 inch, thread the bare end through the back of the socket, then solder. You must "support" the connector and wire while soldering to maintain "alignment". As per the description instructions, make sure you put the sheath on the wire before soldering the wire to the connector! I gave 4 stars because it takes some time. I wish I could give it 4.5 stars because it's almost perfect. As others have said, there is no mechanical connection to hold the wire in place, so you MUST solder the connection. But I don't agree with the review that says it won't be a strong bond. I've tried unplugging the connector after soldering and without breaking the wire, it doesn't come loose in any way if you soldered it correctly.
