Fastest processor I've ever owned

I know there are faster processors out there and for those planning to switch and overclock this processor isn't for you but I am enthusiastic performance of this processor. The low TDP means my small form factor is quiet and cool even when running at full capacity. Of course, I could buy an overclockable processor and get a few percent more performance, but then I have to worry about the heat. No thank you. This processor drives exactly as is. Highly recommended!

Temperatures higher than expected

Note that when Intel says 65W, it shouldn't exceed 65W while the processor is running at a base frequency of 3.0. Ghz.8 cores can run at 4.5GHz in Turbo Boost mode at the same time, but with Turbo Boost they heat up pretty quickly. I'm using a LP53 copper heatsink with a 92mm Noctua L9i fan on it with a compact PC. It easily reaches 90 degrees Celsius. When I use the RPCS3 emulator. In contrast, the 8700T (35W) reaches around 60 degrees with the same load. Of course the 9700 is faster, but the…

Smooth performance - Non-K is more than enough

You saved $40 by choosing this non-K processor. Combined with my CPU-mounted 120mm fan, this CPU runs at a cool 4.5GHz. No need to spend extra money on the k version unless you really want to pack in some extra power, save your money. I paired this with a 32GB Corsair Vengeance 3000MHz RAM and an MSI Z390 Carbon Pro Gaming board, so I was able to increase the turbo to 4.7 via the motherboard BIOS, it but left on the default settings. Paired with my 8GB rtx 2070 I've never felt more comfortable…

Works great: Internals

I'm upgrading my Intel i5 9400 to an Intel i7 9700 for PCVR games like Stormland, Lone Echo, Asgard's Wrath and Half Life Alyx which have some annoying lags. My GPU is GTX 1650 super. The processor is very easy to install. This version came with a stock Intel fan with cooling gel pre-applied. After the drivers were installed, I initially couldn't tell any difference while surfing the web, playing movies, and non-VR games, just like on the i5. VR gaming has been covered. The lag is almost…

Good update: Computer components

Since graphics cards are very expensive this year, I was only able to upgrade my computer's RAM and CPU this year. I have an ASUS Z370-A motherboard and it is listed as compatible, but when I installed a new processor the computer would not boot. The troubleshooting section talked about updating the BIOS, which made sense since the BIOS I had was released in 2018 before 9th Gen Intel processors. Swapped the processors and updated the BIOS with the old processor and then reinstalled the new…
