🔋 IOTA IQ4 Smart Charger: An Efficient Engineering Solution Review

Before purchasing this smart charger I used to replace my RV batteries every 2-3 years. I haven't replaced my latest Walmart 12v deep cycle battery in over 6 years. I hope I don't jinx it after this review. LAUGH OUT LOUD. In my case it was definitely worth the money.

Installed because I thought it would be a cool update for my aging 2007 RV. Works great when plugged into the mains for charging before the trip. When I use my alternator it works fantastic but when I turn off the alternator the fuse on the battery blows and after that I lose DC power completely. Disabled and stopped. Not sure why this is causing this. Wouldn't recommend it. I can't use it for the only purpose I bought it for.

Warehouse Deals sent it to me without a connecting cable. It is difficult to use the charger if you cannot connect the charger to the battery. The discount from warehouse deals was only $5 less than buying the wires from the manufacturer who sent them to me in just 1 day! So I left it on long enough to plug in to make sure the charger was doing what it's doing. I'll charge the battery a few more times before writing more. It did a great job the first time.

I am grateful that this controller can turn my 2-stage converter/charger (IOTA DLS-45 M-Series) into a smart 4-stage charger at such a low price, just plug it in and you're done. Considering the brainless converter/charger was installed in my van when I bought it I can't imagine why the smart option wasn't chosen from the start due to the slight increase in cost. I look forward to improving battery life otherwise I'll update this rating and score.

They take the stress out of charging your batteries and keep them in tip-top shape. I've fried some new 6 volts in the past, unaware that these chargers don't auto-float and will continue to power my batteries at 14.2 volts. A blinking light on the device will indicate what stage it is in and the manual will describe what it is doing. I love this device! I use it in my RV and my batteries are now in safe hands and I don't have to worry about a long hike with the plug connected. Also, the charger and this IQ4 module are currently charging my lead-acid batteries, but I will eventually switch to lithium-ion or LiPo batteries, which typically require a different charger. The charger is adapted to the type of battery to be charged. Just knowing that the manufacturer has made sure, and is proud that their charger works with a wide range of batteries, is reassuring. I used this charger to upgrade a smaller one from the same manufacturer. I like the built-in protection, but since these chargers are usually installed in hard-to-reach places, it's difficult to access them from all sides.
