Great light but deteriorated after a few months.

I bought this flashlight in January 2015. I use it as a shelter in my reef tank sump. The light works well and keeps my macro algae healthy. Even coral algae grow there. The problem is that after 9 months one of the lamps went out, and the brightness of the other three lamps decreased significantly. I would rate this device 5 stars if it weren't for this issue.

Amazing light in aquariums/nano refugiums.

Excellent light for aquarium shelters. I have a nano reef aquarium with a 3 chamber sump behind the display. With this light we illuminate the great second chamber of the sanctuary. This light attaches to the outside of the Sanctuary with magnets and shines horizontally, so the Sanctuary is well lit but the light doesn't hit our display. This allows us to light up our refugium at night when the aquarium is dark. I am very pleased that this light encourages the growth of macroalgae in our…

Perfect for your hideaway!

This light is perfect for the AquaClear 110 pendant light that I placed as a sanctuary in my saltwater reef aquarium. I attached the light to the back of the AquaClear with 3M Command Strips and it worked great from day one. I've tried many other solutions to get the light to work with the AquaClear Refuge, such as small pond lights. Snap-on LED lights for nano or pico reef aquariums have led to nothing but trouble. Either the lights were completely out of order (small pond lights) or the…

There are far better options.

I bought this to use with a small 1 gallon HOB Refugium. I'm not very familiar with the JBJ, but I liked the size and the magnetic mount. Cons: The four LEDs don't put out enough light, and the very narrow field of light they produce only illuminates an area the size of a fixture. itself (see photo). It also doesn't have an on/off switch or any settings, just plug it in and it turns on. You might want to work 24/7, but a switch would be handy for maintenance, especially if your power source…

JBJ Nano is a good light for most lagoons/shelters

JBJ Nano Glo Aquarium LED Shelter JBJ Nano is a good light for most lagoons/shelters. Obviously the light is only limited by its size so it's a good choice for small general purpose aquariums like Innovative Marines, Biocubes 29 etc. I wouldn't recommend the JBJ Nano for large sanctuaries that need a large living space. Be light, use over-the-palette lighting instead. After working with my Biocube 14 I envisioned a basket in the tank made up of filter floss, Purigen, Chemi Pure Elite and then…
