As others have said just be prepared to spend a dollar or so at your local hardware store and buy a good quality steel wing nut and you're good to go. Maybe you already have it, who knows. The included wing nut is metal and breaks easily when minimal force is required to tighten. I had that, but that's to be expected - overall still a great product. Very satisfied so far! Featured!

This unit is poorly designed for two reasons: 1) The top swivel nut is crappy metal. The ones I broke with minimal force using pliers. 2) This should work for a 3 inch hole. However, the metal disc at the top isn't even 3" in diameter, meaning the entire block can actually *fall* into a 3" hole in the pipe. To prevent this, the metal disc should be slightly larger.

Mechanical connector Inexpensive but effective. Unlike some other mechanical plugs, this one has a large contact area with the pipe walls. In my situation, the three inch pipe was corroded and worn out. Those sold at local stores don't have enough rubber to fit the pipe snugly. This is a mechanical fork.
