I wasn't sure using ice picks could make such a big difference, but they are there! These spikes are a good buy but I decided to return them as they are not as good as the pair of STABIlicers I bought at the same time. I didn't use them but they were less durable than the competition and the lugs weren't as well stabilized or built into the rubber. The pair I received don't look as solid as the ones pictured on the Revain product pages.
