Wheels were easy to remove but difficult to put back on. To fit under the seat you will need to remove the wheels. I struggled to put them back on once I was on the plane so I took them out and was so disappointed when trying to put the wheels back on! You have to give them everything backwards and then they snap. I would practice and a few times before traveling. Very roomy thought for my 14 lb dog

Our dogs love it when we travel by plane or car. We have 2 Yorkies (3lbs and 8lbs) and both fit comfortably in a tote bag under an airplane seat or behind the back seat of a car. The wheels are easy to detach when we are ready to put them under the airplane seat. We also like the soft padding and the leash inside the carry bag that attaches to the dog's harness. The bag is good quality, well made and very durable. It sleeps about two small dogs and is very roomy for a 16 lb Chihuahua. Enough to stand up, sit down, curl up in a ball and even lie on your side. The wheels and handle are removable, adding to the weight of the bag. Pretty heavy once attached. You must be careful when attaching the wheels to avoid cutting your fingers.
