I took the smaller one first because I thought my dwarf hamsters would fit ---- it was too small as it arched its back to walk in. So we upgraded to 6.5 inches and it works great. Don't forget to put some padding under the base so it doesn't rattle against the tank if they really screw it up. Otherwise, it is quite quiet compared to other types.

They sit on it and eat their porridge and then run around all night. I can't hear anything and it's too small for a big mouse I have a bigger mouse from, I gave it to him and he hated it. I love the design of this balance bike, but while it's MUCH quieter than some of my balance bikes, it's not as quiet as the Silent Runner. The base is a coated wire base that wobbles when you walk over it. Even if you glue it to the base of the cage, the wheel itself will make noise.
