💻 Black Kensington SD4000 USB Docking Station - Universal 4K Compatibility (K33983AM) Review

With two monitors, one supporting 2560x1080 (via HDMI) and the other 1920x1080 (via DVI), I expected max approval. After connecting this dock both worked at the highest resolution, instead the dock switched to 1920 x 1080 (HDMI) and 1920 x 1080 (DVI). Nowhere in the manual or on their website is this permission mentioned. downshift! It's better to buy two cheap USB-3 video adapters and daisy-chain them.

The docking station works very well with all my devices and monitors, but there is a very slight ticking noise from the audio out. I got a new device but the ticking is still there. I tried turning off all accessories except audio output, but the ticking stayed. Maybe my laptop is interfering with the docking station, but it's kind of a catch-22, isn't it? UPDATE: 2 years later I bought another one for another laptop and found that ethernet works there. Went back to my original setup and worked there. Restored a star I took off! Not sure what changed, but probably something in the Windoze or Dell drivers. Both Alienware and Inspiron work with external monitors, mice, keyboards and Ethernet connected to the laptop via USB-A.
