🔒 Kidco Black 24 Inch Extension for Configure or Hearth Gate Review

We needed this because we have a place in the living room with a step and my grandfather could hardly stand on his feet but didn't fall off the step. It fit well in the large area and was good value for our budget. This seems a bit flimsy, but I would expect this to happen on most gates that have a large open space.

We have ordered this item twice and it arrived damaged both times. If there was another product we could use I would have ordered it instead. But this is the only product I've found that fits our unique parental control dilemma. I have ordered it for the third time and I hope to finally receive an undamaged product. I will update this review when the product arrives.

We really liked this goal and tried more than one until we found it. It was easy to install and reconfigure for changing needs. The auto close is a great feature and you can open it with one hand. It's easy for an adult to come and go but still too difficult for a toddler. The only issue we had is that a couple of the connectors were broken or had come loose from the panels, but these are easily fixed with some superglue.

This extension was just what we needed for the gate. The way the gate can pivot between different panels is great. We were able to go around the stairs leaving leg room all the way to the floor and still fit in my husband's chair. This would not have been possible without the use of a larger 24" extension. So no climbing stairs and no worries without having to rearrange the whole living room. Although the gates are longer, they still seem reliable and durable.

I love the design, I love the look and it encloses an open space that I couldn't manage before. My only problem is that I bought it for dog control. I knew the Chihuahua would slip through and was fine with that. But even the Yorkie — and not to mention the tiny one, he weighs 10 pounds — slides and wobbles a bit where one section meets another. This was a big disappointment for me. I assume its purpose is child protection, but to hell with that!

This item was showing up as a "common item" along with our existing kid's gate so I ordered it without checking the model number and it's not compatible with our existing KidCo fire screen - what is definitely my fault for not checking it out - but I wouldn't "blind order" if it didn't show up in one of the purchase options that are grouped together with the gate we have (i.e. where Amazon shows that several should be bought). items together).
