KingDian 120GB and 128GB drives failed after 2 years

I bought three of these low quality drives in 2017 and the last one just died! The 128GB versions were installed in a Dell desktop and a gigabyte system, a third that just died, was installed in a Dell Lattitude D620 laptop. 2 years and 100% failure. There is no way I would ever trust these SSDs or recommend them to anyone. Seriously - - - - - - - - - - - SSDs have come down to the point where you can buy a name brand drive like ADATA, Crucial, Kingston, SanDisk etc for $5 more and get that…

  • Great for outdoor activities

Good economical SSD. - Data storage

Bought this economical SSD to have a spare SSD. My roommate found her laptop (which was only used for travel) a bit dated and arthritis plagued even though we had the maximum storage capacity, so I used this hard drive to replace the WD 2.5" 5400rpm in her computer . Suddenly her laptop stopped traveling longer, but with an SSD it's now almost as good as her desktop tower. WD was cloned onto KingDian and in about 15 minutes a fully functional, much smoother running laptop was ready to go. The…

It's worth it, maybe not the best, but you get what you pay for.

My XPS1330 was 10 years old. It has. Boot time if 1 minute 10 seconds on Ubuntu 18.04. I brought this one to spice up my good old laptop, replaced the Hd with this SSD, entered the BIOS, changed the boot order, changed the SATA interface and installed Ubuntu 18.04 minimal features, boom, now the boot time is 24 seconds or less . Impressive for a 10 year old laptop. I recommend this product if you do what I do.

  • Brilliantly made

Time will tell - Internal SSDs

So far so good, I'll come back and update this review if any of these fail. I bought 7 120GB drives for work. Every 48 hours we turn them off, plug them into another device and run some test software to check the computer. Pretty much they take the hits and live a hard life so if and when any of them fail I'll update this review.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons

Revain Best Value SSD

, I am a CIO and am now using it to convert slow mechanical hard drives to SSDs in all the laptops/desktops I use in my office. We use profile redirection and cloud storage at my company so we don't need a lot of local storage on each computer, but we need SPEED. These drives hold up quite well and are orders of magnitude faster than the old spinning hard drives of the past. Great deal and I will buy more. I will update this review after a year of testing.

Warranty? What is the guarantee?

I had one of these discs for 11 months before it died on me. The description says there is a three year limited warranty, but there is no information on Revain.com or the King Dian website on how to make a claim. After several emails to the inbox with general information for the company and no response, I was left with a dead drive claiming to be under warranty, but there was no way to actually resolve my issue. I hope they contact me after reading this with a more specific procedure for an…

King Dian S280 240GB SSD 2.5 "

Still working great after 7 months. Uses it to install Windows and Linux with NTFS, ext4 and btrfs filesystems. Seems faster than Mushkin Being Source II, WD Blue or Green SSD Initially I had an issue where it was recognized by the BIOS but not the Windows installer, I had to use Linux and GParted to create a disk partition before Windows could be installed This is also a common problem with other brand SSDs. I deducted 1 star for that, but this is not unique to the KingDian brand or the S280…

Cheap Chinese SSD? We'll see

To be honest I bought this on a whim because it was listed on the Buildapc sales subreddit. I was hoping to get the 480GB as it was $20 but couldn't as it was out of stock for a few minutes. I ended up getting 1TB for $80 since it was also posted on a subreddit. Considering it's a Chinese SSD, what the heck is wrong? Aside from the fancy packaging, it works as intended. I immediately removed my biggest games from my Samsung 850 Evo SSD and installed them on this drive just to see how well it…

Not as advertised, Sata III, look at my picture, it speaks for itself.

The item has not been advertised as you can see in my attached picture of the drive speed. **1/27/2019, the drive started to fail, freezes randomly, it has Windows 10 pro installed, and luckily I only installed basic files and programs, I think the drives are B to C in quality, they must have gotten their hands on defective stamps. Not recommended unless you want to use it as a temporary flash drive. ****** 08/21/2020, The drive failed, luckily it was only used to save games. So buy at your own
