When I first took the dish out of the shipping box I was impressed. Nice light but strong shell. Its solid piece on the outside is smooth and comfortable to the touch. This is a round wooden bowl with a lid. So this is exactly what I expected. The wood has no chips and is smooth. He is very handsome to look at, just like the picture except he was a little redder than I expected but still male. I love the lid as anyone who has used or seen shaving soap and keeps it on a stand knows it's not the prettiest sight when company arrives. You have arrived today. I ordered two and they are both well made with no visible cracks. The lids fit loosely, as I expected. To use with any glycerine-based soap, simply place the puck in a bowl and microwave in small increments, maybe ten seconds, until your soap melts and begins to take shape in the bowl.
