Super cool hard drive case attachment tool

Works as advertised - a real time saver. I have used it to duplicate several mechanical hard drives to SSD and I am very satisfied. It was plug and play. For some, the instructions may seem too short. The only real downside is the lack of in-place cloning software. I had a situation where I needed to do this and it was hard for me to find something that wasn't more expensive than the device itself!

  • Free for educational purposes

  • Crumpled

Does not work with Crucial SSD.

I bought this to clone a spinning SATA drive to a new SSD for my laptop. Even though the old drive and the new Crucial SSD are shown, the Crucial SSD is never recognized in the software when I try to make a copy. Using both the button on the hardware to manually copy and the software generates an error that the Crucial SSD is not showing up. Even after checking if it was visible in the BIOS when connected via USB as a Crucial SSD, it was never cloned with the pack enabled. I've sent an email to

Plug and play! fits hard drive case

Great adapter for the price. Used it to capture files from a very old (only 60GB) IDE hard drive and it worked great. I haven't tried the other two ports (2.5IDE or SATA) or the One Touch Backup button (and I wouldn't trust that button anyway), but I have no reason to think they won't work as well. Also, it's nice that they include power supplies for both SATA and IDE (Molex) so you don't have to worry about connecting to your computer's power supply. The quality of the physical components is…

*** TRUTH: COMPLETE RUBBISH WITHOUT CLEANING ***

Total rubbish. Exactly what you'd expect from something this cheap. Tried using this on a MacBook Pro to clone an internal SSD to an external SSD with CCC. The process kept crashing because the external SSD connected via this KingWin device kept disappearing. After that, I get a notification that the drive was not properly detached. I tried an alternative USB 3.0 cable with the same results. I then plugged the same external drive into a different manufacturer's USB 3.0 enclosure and the cloning

VERY slow, but it works.

was a bit tricky on the first try as it took several tries to get the clone working. It took a few tries with the blue button for it to start. So I tried to clone 500GB hard drive to 1TB SSD 2.5 hard drive and it took about 3 hours. Compare it to cloning a hard drive in half the time with Partition Magic or Macrium Reflect. You still need to use the partition utility to resize the new larger drive if you want to access the unallocated space. The last hard drive I cloned was 1TB to 2TB and it…

Successful or not for hard drive accessories

I bought this adapter to connect some old 2.5" drives that I pulled from old laptops that I wanted to recycle . The first one sent by Revain didn't work on Windows XP, Windows 7, or Mac OS X, which I've tried with four drives each. There may be some issues with the OS driver, but I suspect the quality of the USB connection, as well as the performance, that it can provide is also important. The second port worked with my MacPro using the front USB ports, but not with any of the Windows…

Exceptional little machine

I've read almost every review of this little tool and found that more than enough people thought it was functional to risk it. In fact, there is little chance as it costs next to nothing. If it doesn't work out, it's not a big loss. If so, then a good buy. Work? Oh yeah! Right out of the box, this miniature unit connected up to 11 different old hard drives that had been in the box for 18 years in one housing. Worked with each of them! Setting up and connecting is a breeze for the lobotomized…

Does NOT work with Toshiba laptops! (and probably all laptops)

What I used it for: I needed to clone my old hard drive (which is still in my laptop) to a new SSD (which I connected to the laptop via this adapter have ). What I did: I bought a Samsung Electronics 840 EVO Series 2.5" SATA III 120GB drive and this USB 2.0 to SATA adapter from Kingwin and used the Samsung cloning software that came with the SSD drive to clone the drive. What happened. :( The SSD drive started accepting data for about a minute, then the program hung on me. I had to turn off the
