This thermometer is very FAST, accurate and very easy to use. The calibration feature is handy, although mine was right out of the box. I see no reason to spend more on another thermometer. I particularly like the sharp tip at the end of the probe, which easily penetrates food without having to press hard like some utensils.

The device is easy to use. I used two other thermometers to check two separate pork hams. As I neared final temp, I used the Kizen Instant Thermometer to get a second opinion on core temp. Kizen readings were quick but a degree or two away from other thermometers. Not a big difference, but still different. My question now is which of the three is correct. However, Kizen provided instant results, which is why I bought it.

I like that the display works regardless of probe orientation and reads the temperature fairly quickly. I have special probes that are great for smoking, but they're more of a hassle than you'd like when cooking something like chicken or steak. I can't say I've tried a bottle opener and I don't think I will. I have been buying an instant cooking thermometer for a few months. The ones I looked at were so expensive I kept putting them off. I decided to try this one and I'm so glad I did. It has a built in magnet so I can keep it handy next to the microwave. I think the battery lasts a long time as it only turns on when you take the probe out and turns off immediately when you put the probe back in or a minute after it was left open.
