I ordered these after reading a website about their use as a Velveeta (and similar) cheese grater. It's actually quite useful for this (regular graters aren't so much). I have not yet tried it as a potato grater for its intended purpose, but I can imagine that it is also good at that. Easy to clean in the dishwasher, durable.

Can grate potatoes. Who knows? If you insist on grating the potatoes, use a grater; easier to handle. If you're tired of your toast getting soggy the moment you put it on your plate, do like the Brits do and put your toast on a toast stand. My family does that. Not the best, does his job. Sturdy but doesn't cut potatoes as fast as I'd like. I love eating German-style dumplings and pancakes, but I get faster results with an electric food processor. The consistency is precise, unlike a food processor, but manual labor is tedious with large batches — when the whole family comes, it can take hours to grind enough to fill a tabletop bowl. My old 1930's grater rusted and sagged in the middle. This replacement is excellent. Crossing wires are welded at their intersections, as well as along the edges.
