My only criticism of these headphones is the overall comfort. The headband has almost no padding. It looks like a thin piece of leather sewn onto metal, which it basically is. The clamping force is also too high. The ear cushions do not have memory foam insulation. It's just foam. They just fit my small ears. But what bothers me the most is the hat. Bought Fidelio L2 on a whim as I have a closed headset (Takstar Pro 82) that I love but wanted to try open or semi-open . Also, the great Z reviews inspired me to develop it. Possibly the best headphones I've ever owned. I mean the previous ones weren't a match but I still use my Superlux HD661 with my little amp and it works wonders. They released it in 2014 and eventually after many great reviews they replaced the drivers with lower quality ones. They updated the specs but not the model number. So when you look at the reviews all the old good ones show up but what they are selling now sounds completely different but has the same name and look. I do not understand those people who write "the sound is terrible." Did you want perfect headphones at the level of sony mdr-7606 in no way lower for a price below 1k? Some people don't have enough bass. I compared it with the sony mdr-zx700 and they have much less of them (namely bass, THE SOUND IS NOT BETTER!). Great option for little money. First of all you need an amplifier, DAC or other sound card to drive these things. I connect mine to the Logitech G560 speakers on the back and have yet to turn that audio on. It is what it is. I've had these headphones for over a year now. Since purchasing these headphones I've delved into the world of audiophiles and have spent a lot more on add-on gear like amps and DACs and other headphones. For reference I have a Sennheiser HD650 [Primary Open Ear[, Phillips Fidelio X2 [Secondary Open Ear], Phillips Fidelio L2, Sanheiser Momentum 2.0 Wireless, Sanheiser PXC550s so the comparison will be to oranges, apples and pineapples. None of the headphones I have overlap with the L2 use case.

This is a review of Phillips Fidelio L2. Got them for $100 on Black Friday and in the 6 weeks I've had them it's a steal for the price. The packaging is beautiful, a large box with protective padding to protect the headphones. In addition to the headphones, the box includes a fabric carrying case, 2 detachable cables (one with a single-button microphone and one without) and several booklets. The headphones have a very good build quality. Metal on the case and straps with a dark metallic finish.
