I liked the look of the shoe. It had excellent arch support and the overall sizing was good. However, the toe box was too narrow for me. I sent them back and bought another pair of Asics (GT-1000's) that I had previously that fit comfortably in a sock box.

Used, they have ugly dirty footprints, all in! Like black, rough feet in an $80+ pair of shoes I just bought! The description says NEW guys! Well they are NOT! What really. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE! I want a new replacement as soon as possible.

great shoes! The best I have had in a long time to support my feet and I have tried for a long time to buy quality shoes. Had this problem with plantar fasciitis earlier in the year and my problem is mostly solved by wearing these shoes around the house and walking long distances.

I have received several positive reviews and I am SO glad I did! My husband and I recently went to the gym and I didn't want to wear street shoes so I ordered them! Sometimes you have to break in a new pair of shoes, but they were comfortable from the moment I started walking on the treadmill until I got off 45 minutes later! No rubbing, no wearing, no soreness! Toe box is much narrower than Gel Contend 3. Strangely I bought size 7.5d (wide) in Gel Contend 3 and it fits perfectly. But as you can see in my photos, gel contend 4 is clearly half a size bigger. You may also notice that the toe box is noticeably narrower. That makes me suspicious, but that can also be because it's too big. I loved the Contend 3 gel, you can see I've worn it to death, but the Contend 4 gel just doesn't fit my foot. Unfortunately I have to send it back.

I think Asics have some inconsistencies with their production. I personally bought the same shoe from a shoe store a few weeks ago and they are very comfortable. As far as I can tell, the pair I bought online differs only in being a different color and made in Vietnam, while the pair bought in store was made in Indonesia. Running shoes are very important to me. I refuse to wear uncomfortable shoes. I swear by Asics - I stumbled across my first pair about 15 years ago and they have held up like a champ at work being on my feet all day in the hospital. I recently bought these and ASICS running shoes. My only criticism is that they are not intended for dirt trails or serious hiking as decals and dust/dirt can get into the shoe.
