Close enough to kitchen utensils and appliances

Readings close enough to my expectations. I think it was +/- 2°F and seemed to vary depending on the position of the sensor. I don't need to know when my ice will freeze or my water will boil. I really only want to show 167°F for my microwave dishes so I don't overheat or underheat. The shell was a little easy to remove. I filed it a bit and now it's perfect. Orange is easy to spot in a crowded box. I hope that the tiny battery lasts and does not run out even when the meter is switched off.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Fragile

Edited Broke after 2 months

I needed a food thermometer and didn't want to spend crazy money on it. I found this one and it is very easy to use, easy to read, the lid detaches and attaches to the back as an extension. Don't waste more on something you use multiple times a week, this works great, reads the temp pretty quickly. Proper reading was impressed at first as you can see I left the original review above

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • There are new competitors

Accurate and inexpensive - what you don't like

Accurate and inexpensive instant read thermometer. I have both Lavatools Javelin and Thermapen and need a cheaper thermometer for my country house. Compared to other models, it's only slightly slower to read and just as accurate. The probe takes longer to cool down than other top-of-the-line models, and the probe itself is much larger in diameter. It also feels less premium compared to the Javelin and Thermapen, but that's because it's so cheap in price. I will accept the compromise. Overall…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Speed

Better think twice!

It really sucks. First, it's such a good thermometer. Easy to use, easy to read, only one button (to use frequently). So he ticks all the boxes, "I THOUGHT". Problem is I put it in my travel bag with all my BBQ stuff. There is no cover for the dipstick. It's just an accident that has to happen. It will pierce something else or bend into a gap. So I bought another one that folds like a pocket knife. So this one (the one in this review) is GREAT for putting in a desk drawer. But there is no cover

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Somewhat serviceable

Does not fit in pocket

This thermometer is too long to be used in a work kitchen. And don't get me started with ergonomics. You either use two hands to operate it, or your thumb (natural placement) covers the display while operating the buttons. Then comes the alignment of the display on the probe. It seems 1.) centered on the right 2.) hard to read unless it's perpendicular to the target (e.g. a loaf of bread should be almost halfway through the oven). Finally, unlike my Lavatools Javelin PRO Duo Ambidextrous…
