I needed a new fan/dimmer combo switch. I bought this one as it turned out to be of better quality based on the reviews and price. I was a little disappointed. The overhead screw used to adjust the bottom end of the dimmer is soft plastic that broke off and went into the dimmer. I didn't use more force than necessary to turn the screw. Excellent switch. It uses an electronic circuit to control the lighting voltage instead of just using a simple rheostat to limit the current. Rheostatic dimmers work great with incandescent bulbs, but not well with LEDs. Lamps no longer flicker in low light. I am very happy with this switch. Bought a pair of these last year. Had a problem with the light switch on one of them about 3 months later. When the lights come on at full power, the disco begins and the lights flicker. I haven't had any issues with Leviton before so I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and bought another to replace it. This time lasted about 4 months and the same problem. update 13.05. Leviton still does not replace or refund. (since February) Terrible customer service. We had issues with the dimmer flickering for a few weeks after purchase. Since the Amazon return period has expired, we contacted Leviton and asked for a replacement. They said we should try going back to incandescent to make sure it's not LED. After replacing the bulb, it still flickered. So we called Leviton back and they said they would send a new switch that would arrive in a couple of weeks.

What was Leviton thinking? If they simply copied the light controller as a fan controller, they would have a working product. If only. Fan control is schizophrenic when connected to - fan. The fan runs fast-slow-fast for low-medium-high settings. BUT - if you connect the light cable of the device to the fan, you get a very smooth, infinitely variable, pleasant motor control.
