so i thought they screwed in but they don't whilst i was using it was difficult as the head kept falling off the handle. In order to use them, I think you need to invest in their mop. It absorbs and the strands seem thick, but what a hassle! Make sure you check it is screwed on before you buy a multi-purpose wand mop head.
