Good for spares not as shown

The rear facing end of the car is similar to the original Lexus, not the one in the picture. There were no metal clips on the end facing the front of the car and I reused those from the old struts. The rest works great.

But they work. - Spare parts

They were a bit difficult to assemble. Basically, they're a bit long, so I had to push the pole in a little bit (about half an inch) before I could put it on the "ball joint" on the trunk. Squeezing the bar with your hand and trying to direct it onto the "ball" wasn't the easiest thing, but it "snapped" in the end. Another problem is that they are too strong. This means as soon as you unlock the trunk and start opening it, it will LIFT! When I opened the trunk for the first time, he almost hitโ€ฆ

Cheaper than OEM and easy to install

Just installed and while I can't say how long they will last I can tell you the price is about half what Lexus wanted and the installation takes 15 minutes. Also, they seem to be working fine. In fact, you can open the trunk without fear of your fingers slipping and it slamming. Lexus offered my wife over $350 to replace it. Called their parts department and they wanted over $100 just for the frames, CrAzY! As mentioned above, installation is very simple. They reuse original clips so as not toโ€ฆ

Long and strong for spares

Seems a little durable. It took about 20 minutes to install, partly because I couldn't compress it. It's a bit chilly here in Northern California at this time and it's early in the morning. Anyway, I've found that if you remove the rubber stopper, you can lift the side of the trunk you're working on much easier to achieve perfect alignment, and then just snap the rubber stopper back into place. There were no clamps in my kit, I reused the old clamp by simply squeezing it with pliers. My onlyโ€ฆ

Works great and cheaper than the dealer

I don't think my mother's IS trunk lid ever opened so easily, even when it was brand new. I even have a hard time opening it. It stays upright, but it's quite difficult to get to this point. Now I can just press the trunk release button and lift it a bit with one finger and it will open all the way by itself. I never knew it had to be done. Installation is pretty easy, just a flat head screwdriver, pliers and 15 minutes of your time. A small amount of force is required to compress the newโ€ฆ

Easy and quick I left my process at

Clips not included but if you are careful you can reuse the clips. All I used were pliers and a flathead screwdriver. This took about 10 minutes. I will provide my steps I took (this is not a guide but a process I took to install, I am not responsible for any damage caused by what I have to share) 1. Remove the 3 flat clips that slide towards you (easily)2. Remove the 2 round clips, one on each corner near the light, it will have 2 push clips holding it in place (easy) 3. Carefully pull downโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky
