As I said I love this little chair. I love how compact it is and how low it sits. My short legs are rarely comfortable in a standard chair without slouching down for my feet to be flat. This is a folding chair that collapses into an amazingly small size that could easily fit in a pack. It weighs about 2 pounds so I think this could work well for backpacking. I don't think it is very comfortable but certainly it will be a lot more comfortable than sitting on the ground or a rock or something. Our family has several compact backpacking style camp chairs. This is a sturdy one that is pretty comfortable. My wife claims it feels tight on her shoulders, but the upper poles are above my shoulders, so I didn't notice that. Our kids really liked sitting in it though. I think this is a great budget camp chair that packs down relatively small. It's not small enough or lightweight enough to be a real backpacking chair. But for the price or for a short hike I think it's a pretty solid choice.
