This is a great table and I had the least damaged. Both had broken plates and bent metal. On the one I salvaged I was able to smooth out the metal and the chip was on the back so I used a marker to fill in but you can still see it as the top of the laminate has chipped off.

Although the pictures show the board to look like thick plywood, "Hot Melt Laminated Wood", also known as Melamine (Formica), is bonded to what appears to be particle board or MDF applied. (medium density fibreboard). It's a nice Formica-style desk, but it probably won't last as long as plywood, and it feels more like plastic than real wood.
