This "protection" does not protect the mattress at all. He is less than 9 months old and the first time he was peed on he died completely.

***NOT waterproof*** OR urine resistant. I bought it because it was Revain's choice and had a lot of good reviews. Well that was a mistake. My son has an accident maybe every few months and was alone last night. I removed the dirty sheets and "waterproof" lining to find the mattress was already soaked! If you don't like the extra work of cleaning your mattress and smelly urine residue, DO NOT BUY!

We bought this for my son's bed and it resists water/liquids well. But after 9 months I noticed that the stitching around the elastic was unraveling (this shouldn't happen with a quality product but he likes to jump on his bed...). At first I liked this mattress topper. It fits well on the mattress and seems to lock in moisture. Based on that, I would probably give it 4 or 5 stars. The problem and reason I'm leaving this review is that all three of my mattress pads are ruined after I wash them as directed. Washable hot, tumble dry low, and several areas on the top of the cover are scorched and melted. (See attached photos) If you buy this it will probably do the job.
