Description of Lisle 20610 Inline Spark Tester

Gives a Visual Check of the Ignition System. Quickly diagnose problems with all ignition systems. Connect the tool between the spark plug and the plug wire. The tool is double-ended to offer a straight boot and a 90boot on one tool. With the engine running, the tool flashes a mirror image of ignition spark. Patent: 6,714,015.

Great troubleshooting tool but the light is not very bright

Bought to troubleshoot a mower that won't start. My first attempt at using this was on a sunny day in partial shade, I didn't see the light flicker. To confirm, I tried again in the evening when it wasn't that bright outside and the lights were actually flickering. Therefore, it is advisable to shade the device when working outdoors so that you can see the light as it is not very bright. The 90 degree fork end cap was too long to fit the short lawnmower fork so I trimmed it down a bit to fit…

Lisle quality tool

I used to think these inexpensive spark testers were a novelty that had no place in a professional mechanic's toolbox but I changed my mind after seeing the Tester used to successfully diagnose a faulty ignition coil on my Ford Ranger. If you're troubleshooting in no-start conditions I don't think this is a very useful tool, but it works great when diagnosing a bad coil that's going intermittently. Great for home gamers, small engine handymen

Between 4-letter words, countless beers and two shoulders that now need surgery, I finally got the old tiller to shine. After bleeding the exhaust pipe and hanging the engine upside down to dry, it occurred to me that I might have a spark problem.
