Description of ๐Ÿ”ง Loctite 492145 545 Thread Sealant for Pneumatic and Hydraulic Applications, 36ml Bottle

Designed for locking and sealing high-pressure pneumatic and hydraulic systems. The pneumatic/hydraulic sealant contains no fillers or particles that could contaminate system fluids, foul valves or clog fine filters and screens. Reliably cures on "as received" fasteners. Typical applications include hydraulic line fittings, brake fittings, transmission fluid fittings and PTO fittings. Controlled locking strength allows easy disassembly.

Great Thing Threadlocker

Much better than using old white tape to seal leaks. This bottle is very expensive for the price and worth the money. Do yourself a favor, ditch the white tape and grab a bottle of it.

Pros
  • Good
Cons
  • Damaged

Excellent material! for car care

I built a hydraulic lift and the manufacturer sent teflon tape to it. Now most hydraulic manufacturers never want you to use teflon tape as a sealant as it can wear out and damage valves and pumps. This is said to be much safer in case something gets into the hydraulic system. I also passionately HATE teflon tape so anything that pops out of a tube is a big plus for me!

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly

This is a must have for a mechanic or repairer.

I have worked as a diesel mechanic on large yachts. It was in my tool bag and used every day. Small things have a big impact. Great for pneumatic fittings, better than Loctite. Mainly because it is easy to disassemble, clean and redo. Hydraulic fittings, plugs and engine coolant fittings etc. All pipe threaded. Follow the directions on the bottle. Much safer than white teflon tape around sensitive pumps, filters and equipment.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Compatibility

Excellent thread seal.

Great item after overhauling all of my hydraulic hoses for my lift which almost all were leaking and were due to another product. Leak "Yes. I find the secret of letting it heal for a period of time seems to have worked for me that way. I also had a few leaks on some of my bobcat's hydraulic fittings and left it that same week when I tried again, it worked great with no leaks.

Pros
  • Durable Finish
Cons
  • Protection

Worked great on my hydraulic clutch

One of the fittings on my coupler is leaking. I tried what was available at the local big box store. It was true industrial grade thread sealant. When the weather was nice, I let him tune in for a very long time, 2 days. I started it and within 5 seconds it started leaking. I found this and since it stands for hydraulics I was hoping for success. I've used it and so far so good. I did a quick split of about 1/4 line with no problems. I plan to go back to work this afternoon.

Pros
  • . Great for a small house
Cons
  • Slightly dented

generous. but worth every penny

Original review May 12, 2013: I have been using PTFE tape for years and prefer tube lube. But this material made me discard PTFE forever in scenarios where 24 hour cure time is not a factor. Apply as a liquid to strands and within 5 minutes it will begin to turn into a purple paste-like material - plenty of time to set in place. Vibration resistance plus sealant in one - I like it. Additional Summary Added April 29, 2014: Almost a year later, the on-board air system I built for my car is stillโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Appearance
